Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch undertook a visit to Daegu, Cheongdo and Gyeongsan cities and met with local leadership there. She held meetings with Mayor of Daegu, Mr. Kwon Youngjin and Mayor of Cheongdo, Mr. Seung Yool Lee and provincial ministers and members of provincial assemblies. Vice Mayor of Geongsan city Mr. Lee Jang Sik hosted a lunch in honor of the Ambassador. Ambassador was accompanied by Community Welfare Attache, Mr. Shafiq Haider Virk.
During her visit to Daegu, Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch met with the Pakistani community at an event organized by Pakistan Business Association. The event brought together a cross-section of Pakistani community including businessmen, workers, students, and local officials. Ambassador was assisted by Community Welfare Attache, Shafiq Haider Virk.
In her address on the occasion, Ambassador lauded the Pakistani community in Daegu for its contribution in Korean society and for promoting Pakistan’s interests in the Republic of Korea. She briefed the community on priorities and activities of the Embassy of Pakistan and assured them that Embassy would continue to serve the Pakistani community with full commitment.
Ambassador Mumtaz Baloch referred to the upcoming anniversary of illegal Indian actions in IIOJK and highlighted the plight of Kashmiri brothers under siege by Indian occupation forces. She also encouraged Pakistani community to celebrate the Independence Day with national zeal and fervor.
During her visit to Daegu, Ambassador Mumtaz Zahra Baloch visited the prestigious Kyungpook National University (KNU).Ambassador was accompanied by Comunity Welfare Attache, Shafiq Haider.
In her meeting with Vice President of the University, exchanges with universities in Pakistan including joint research and academic programs were discussed. Ambassador also raised issues of concern for Pakistani students studying at the university. Around 60 Pakistani students are enrolled in various disciplines at KNU.
Ambassador also interacted with Pakistani students at KNU. She shared with them Embassy’s priorities and future plans. She encouraged them to work hard and stay united. Ambassador also answered questions of the students and listened to their advice and issues of concern.
